RTM Speaking Sprints

  • A 12-week immersion program of weekly group calls in Mandarin with native speakers, discussing real news as it’s happening.


  • You’ll get the content, support, structure, and accountability to help you practice, apply, and retain what you learn, and build your speaking confidence.


  • It’s flexible, but structured. You learn before the live sessions, studying at your own pace with self-paced resources. Then you apply what you’ve learned in the live discussions.


  • Meet-ups are every Saturday. Chose from three times to fit your timezone and availability. You get content one week in advance, and three discussion questions every Wednesday ahead of the meeting. So you have plenty of time to learn and prepare. 


  • This is for you if you want to speak Chinese with native speakers on a regular basis. It's designed for intermediate to advanced learners (HSK4 and above), and is ideal if you're feeling rusty, have gaps in your vocabulary, or struggle to speak confidently (even though you used to).


  • Plus: You'll get a 1:1 onboarding call when you join to make sure you are ready for the Sprint, and can navigate the resources based on your learning needs.

Zoom. These are Mandarin-only meet-ups hosted by native speakers in safe and encouraging environment.

“Flipped classroom” structure where you learn independently with self-paced content first, and then apply it during live meet-ups.

    • When are the live sessions?
      Sessions are held on Saturdays to avoid clashes with busy working schedules. Choose from three times each week (UK time):
      • 2am (for China, Australasia, US)
      • 10am (for UK, Europe, China)
      • 5pm (US, UK, Europe)
    • How much does the RTM Sprint cost?
      There are two ways you can invest in a Sprints membership:
      • 3-month Speaking Sprint: $300/quarter
      • 12-month Speaking Sprint: $900/year
    • What is the level of Chinese?
      Members describe themselves as ‘advanced’, ‘intermediate’, or 'rusty with gaps'. Everyone is in the same boat and you'll be part of a supportive learning community.
    • What if I can’t join all the live sessions?
      No problem! Just pick up where you left off. Current members say they aim to attend at least three sessions each month as life can get busy at times. With 3-4 sessions per month, as well as dedicated study time each week, you’ll see real progress
